It’s that time of the year again! The month of October is perfect for pumpkin picking, hay rides, and kick-starting fall. Here’s a look at our favorite things to do around Lake County this month.
40th Annual Mount Dora Bicycle Festival: This yearly event is a must-do for locals and visitors alike! This year’s will be even more exciting as the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce (which will be serving as a rest stop and common area) has undergone a major physical makeover! There are several routes you’ll be able to watch over the weekend, including the easygoing 15 Mile Scott's Corn Maize or the scenic 53 Mile Yalaha Bakery Ride, among others. There will be barbecue food, gift shops to stroll through and a chance to explore the city over the course of the three-day event, which starts October 10th. Visit their www.mountdorabicyclefestival.com website to learn more.
Tavares Howl-O-Fest and Trunk or Treat: This is a great Halloween-themed event for the whole family. There will be the classic trunk-or-treat, a kids’ costume contest, pet parade and pet costume contest! You can also catch a hay ride or check out the on-site Pumpkin Train. Howl-O-Fest takes place October 24th and 25th in Tavares.
30th Annual Mount Dora Craft Fair: We’re a city of tradition here, and few events represent the small-town charm of Mount Dora like the annual Craft Fair. You’ll be able to stroll through scenic downtown and browse through the creations and confections of over 400 worthy exhibitors. With the slight cool-down October promises, it should be a great outdoors event. The Craft Fair kicks off October 25th!
Eustis Streetfest - Halloween Bash: Here’s another kid-friendly event for Halloween, located in Eustis’s downtown entertainment district. There will be pumpkin painting, costume contests, vendors, music and more. This one takes place Halloween night at 6 pm!
