Memorial Day is a time to spend with family and friends, but more importantly, it's a day to remember those who've given their lives protecting our freedom. In honor of our heroes, we have ideas on how to spend your Memorial Day this year.
We have some ideas of how to spend your day this year:
- Attend a parade
- Host an informal BBQ
- Donate to families of soldiers who are wounded or have lost their lives
- Observe the National Moment of Remembrance at 3pm for one minute
- Wear your American spirit proudly with Red, White and Blue everything
- Make patriotic themed crafts with your children
- Educate your children of the history and origin of the day
- Visit a local memorial
- Fly your flag at half-staff from sunrise to noon and then raise to full staff for the rest of the day
- Send a care package to a soldier through AnySoldier.com
- Teach your children the Star Spangled Banner or America the Beautiful
- Make American themed desserts
- Attend a ceremony hosted by your local VFW or American Legion
- Make a pledge to aid veterans and military families all year long
- Donate your time at your local veterans services center
- Purchase a Poppy from a VFW member
- Donate to a charity that supports our military in our community
- Run in a Memorial Day charity run event
- Thank your local service men and women for all that they do for our country
There are so many ways to honor the men and women who have put their lives on the line to give us the freedom that we have today. It's important to remember the real reason for Memorial Day.
