“We’re moving to Florida!” is a phrase that is often met with puzzled looks from friends and family who quietly wonder… can he afford that?
It’s true that many parts of Florida, especially the southern tip of the state, are notorious for their high sale prices. But today, it’s worth noting that living in Florida can be just as exciting and comfortable as always—but, in many cases, at about half the price.
Look at Central Florida, for instance. CNN Money recently reported that the median home price in the US was about $236,000—and homes in Ocala, Leesburg and other great cities can go for even less while still maintaining the quality and location homebuyers desire. One such home, located in Ocala, was listed for $234,900… and a quick visit to our for sale page will reveal other nearby homes for about the same (or even less!).
Now if you’re a homeowner looking to sell, you may be wondering… why are such low prices good for me? In reality, however, the relatively low prices in this area can be beneficial to both buyers and sellers. Here’s how:
More achievable success for sellers
We understand wanting your home price to be as high as possible—but today’s buyers are especially savvy, and know what they want to pay. If that seems like a low number to you, at least you can take comfort in the fact that a well maintained home at a fair price will sell quickly (which saves you time and money in the long run, anyway).
Potential for millennials and first time homeowners
Today’s young, first time home buyer is typically not willing (and not able) to spend a large amount of money on a new home—but they are buying, and want something that’s in their price range but also livable. That’s where moderately priced, midsize homes come in. Having average sale prices at or below the national median make Central Florida a prime spot for real estate growth… and that’s good news for everyone!
Upgrades for current Florida residents and vacationers
If you’re a current Florida resident looking to upgrade from a condo to a home, Central Florida is constantly proving that it’s the place to do it. Family friendly communities, shopping and entertainment opportunities, outdoor recreation and (of course) great prices make this area a budding choice for both in and out-of-state buyers, some who may be looking to purchase their very first vacation home. Central Florida lets them experience all the best that this state has to offer—without paying the premium other parts of Florida require.
With Central Florida on its way to becoming one of the country’s most desirable (and affordable) locations, it’s no wonder that you may see new developments and community investments in the near future. Businesses want to work where homes are being bought and will realistically continue to be bought, and that’s what we’re seeing here.
